Five Week Anniversary
My five week anniversary is very similar to where I was at four weeks. I can get around my house pretty well and drive short distances, but can't get around much further. This is a little slower than I'd anticipated or hoped, but overall things are still going well so no complaints.
I am the father of two wonderful daughters and do a lot of traveling in my spare time. Over the past few years, I've had terrible pain in my right hip, annoying at first but ultimately crippling, to the point where sleep was painful, I used a cane to walk, and was barely able to move at times. The diagnosis was "avascular necrosis," which as I understand it means that the blood supply to the hip bone was being cut off, causing the bone to deteriorate, rather rapidly in my case. My doctor recommended a hip replacement, with which I immediately agreed. Professionally, I am a Senior Associate with Booz Allen Hamilton, where I lead the Intelligence Community market for the Strategic Communications (SC) team, part of Booz Allen's larger Organization and Strategy capability. I'm also a co-sponsor of SC's Change Management and Social Media Communities of Practice, and the Social Media team not only encouraged me to write this blog about my hip replacement but helped me set it up. Anyway, I'm really eager to get my new $50,000 hip and pick up with my life!
